Day One Hundred and Sixty One.
When I got up today I didn't think I had slept enough but I got out of bed because I still had guests in my house. Also, my oldest sister and I had also planned on taking the day to go skiing. I spent a little bit of time with my twin sister before we had to go but I still felt bad that she wasn't coming with us. She's just not that into skiing, it's not like we didn't invite her! Before we could head to the mountain we had to stop and pick me up a pair of gloves because I didn't have any that would hold up for a day on the slopes. We also stopped at Stewarts to get breakfast and coffee. It took us just about an hour to get there which ended up giving us plenty of time on the mountain.
I had to rent skis but it still didn't cost me that much because of the non-holiday weekday pricing. I was very nervous when I first got on my skis but was pleasantly surprised when it all came right back to me. Every time I go I remember how much I love to ski! I've attached a photo of one of our trips up the gondola. We did a green trail first then quickly started doing the blue trails. Finally I had gained enough confidence to try a black diamond for the first time and I ended up doing two of them! I will say that I think a large part of what was making it so manageable was the fact that I had beginner skis on, which weren't that long. I think the next time I go I'm going to try to get longer ones. Also, the mountain was so empty it was really nice not having to dodge people. Lastly, my sister definitely helps because she is such a good skier that just watching her improves my technique. It's amazing how fast she goes down the slopes. After we were finished skiing we had a quick drink and then headed home.
I'm so happy that we got to go skiing and it was nice doing something with just my oldest sister because we don't get to do a lot together. After my sister left I put a load of laundry in and took a shower before my boyfriend got here. He ended up just picking us up some subs for dinner because I was too tired to have to worry about cooking. I was so busy today I didn't really have a lot of time to obsess much about my hand washing. It was a little hard for me at the mountain with the whole rental boots situation, but I reminded myself that millions of people rent ski boots every winter and it can't be that unsanitary. I'm so exhausted right now that it's definitely bed time:)
